Our Fathers now so close to heaven
You are not to blame
For feelings that we find unpleasant
But still choose to retain
Thy kingdom's come
Thy wills been done
You're living comfortably
In little house in Sun City
with Satellite TVs
You gave us each day daily bread
You gave us so much more
You fought the Nazis
and the Reds
On many foreign shores
Please forgive us our trespasses
As we're forgiving you
You gave us lives that kings would dream of
Hope you like yours too
And lead us not into temptation
To hate ourselves again
Like when you taught us masterbation
Is a mortal sin
Yours is the Kingdom Power and Glory
The 401K too
The best way we can end this story
is by thanking you
The people ‘cross the street have a lots of weeds in their yard
Drive rusty cars, drink really hard
Their kids all yell and scream and run out into the street
In dirty bare feet and bad crooked teeth
And I’m sittin’ there in front porch chair
Giving to them a “stink-eye” stare
There’s no better pastime than to sit and compare
When I’m way up here and they’re way down there
Judging is just like living on a see-saw
We’re either above or down below what we saw
Living this way how can there ever be….Sweet equality
The yard right next to theirs has got that manicured look
Right out of a house and gardening book
If one small blade of grass does not conform to command
Out they will come with clippers in hand
And I’m sittin’ there in my front porch chair
Wondering why I don’t seem to care
Enough to work in my yard so meticulously
Now what in the hell is the matter with me
Judging is just like living on a see-saw
We’re either above or down below what we saw
Living this way how can there ever be…Sweet equality
Way back in the 90’s I was given a gift
A miraculous perceptual shift
I felt what it’s like when there is no judgment passed
No high or low class And no first or last
I never felt such a beautiful peace
Not in a world of greatest and least
But soon I felt it fading away. back in the fray
I started to pray
Lord please help me climb off of this see-saw
I don’t think I want to ride it anymore
All I ever want eternally
It sweet equality
The man who used to scare me long ago
Is movin' kinda slow
He's not the man I used to know
The Man who used to scare me way back when
Is trying to be friends
But since we both are men
Looks like we'll have to try again.
I recall he'd get so annoyed
With his crazy boy
Now he's just glad that I'm employed
The Man who used to scare me
Weaves a rail of fact filled tales
And hides inside the details
But the man who used to scare me
I can see has feeling just like me
And though I was too scared to see the love in there
Well I am learning how to receive it now.
